The 50 Most Influential Leaders in Pharmacy Awards 2023

January 17, 2024by Todd Eury

PHARMACY 50 AWARDS

The Pharmacy Podcast Network (PPN) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023, 50 Most Influential Leaders in Pharmacy.  Coming in at number one is, Nadia Ahmad, PharmD, who works at a Walgreens pharmacy in Middlesboro, KY.    Ahmad works as a dispensing pharmacist for Walgreens in Middlesboro, KY.  She is cited for exemplary leadership, customer care and for her support for mental health issues, writing a book about being a pharmacist, and even incorporating a successful pet medication aspect of the pharmacy.

The 50 Most Influential Leaders in Pharmacy program was launched in 2021 by the PPN as a way to draw attention to industry professionals whose thoughts, actions, accomplishments and leadership have helped solve clinical, customer service and financial problems.

Unlike other awards program that focus on a particular aspect of pharmacy the Pharmacy 50 is designed to identify and honor people in all aspects of the industry.  Eury says this goal is aligned with the mission of the PPN.  He says with more than 40 different podcast hosts, and more than 100,000 monthly listeners, the PPN distributes original content that serves nearly all aspects of the industry.

This year’s event saw a 300% increase in the number of votes cast.  Eury credits much of that growth to the number of positive press reports on past winners and the addition of two major sponsors to the program.  He says, “Cardinal Health and the Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) saw the value of a program that puts a spotlight on the people who are solving problems and advancing the role of pharmacists. Their participation in promoting the program made a big difference.”

Darren Thieding, Chief Operating Officer at Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) commented: “The excellence demonstrated by the winners of the Pharmacy 50 awards should give everyone confidence that pharmacy is poised to succeed in 2024 and beyond. With such great operators, healthcare professionals, and innovators at the helm we can work collectively towards tackling and overcoming the challenge of moving the industry forward. IPC is proud to be a partner in recognizing the excellent work done by these award winners. ”

Eury adds, the mission of PPN is to provide a podcast host and program for all aspects of the profession.  PPN, which currently features more than 40 podcast hosts is the first, and largest, podcast program dedicated to pharmacy.  And he says the programs PPN publishes are downloaded more than 100,000 times each month.
